Xscape has proven to be the gift that keeps harmoniously giving. It’s fitting, then, that the R&B trailblazers are set to be honored in a major way at the Soul Train Awards 2022.

Moments ago, it was announced that the iconic quad – comprised of Kandi, Tiny, Tamika, and LaTocha – will be presented with the coveted Lady of Soul Award at this year’s ceremony.
Speaking on the honor, which recognizes exceptional career excellence, the ‘Who Can I Run To’ singers said
“Given how important Soul Train is to all of us, we’re so thankful to be honored with the ‘Lady of Soul’ Award this year. It’s going to be an amazing night, and we can’t wait to see you all there.”
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy added:
“Xscape is one of the most notable R&B supergroups of all time. Their powerful vocal harmonies laid the foundation for ‘90s R&B and some of today’s chart-topping hits. Their sound is undeniably unique and masterful. We look forward to honoring these multi-talented artists collectively on R&B’s biggest stage, Soul Train Awards.”
Hosted by Deon Cole, the Soul Train Awards 2022 will simulcast on BET and BET Her at 8 PM ET on November 27. As reported, Beyonce and Mary J. Blige lead the nominations.

Nostalgia really is blind. They had a few “ok” hits back in the 90s and were nothing special. Just because something is old, doesn’t make it classic.
Kandi, on the other hand, has written a LOT of classics. Just not many of the songs she did with Xscape.

Xscape had a great run! All their albums went platinum and they have several R&B classics. Like SWV they were severely under appreciated by the industry. I’m glad they’re getting their flowers. It’s WELL DESERVED regardless of what haters like you say.
Hater? I’m simply giving my opinion, dear. They were definitely no TLC or Destiny’s Child. Or even Total.
The fact that they aren’t TLC or DC doesn’t take away from what I said. And that goes to show how much you know because Xscape is far more successful than Total. You’re always on here hating. That’s just what you do but you won’t diminish what Xscape accomplished. It’s up to US to celebrate our artists and that’s what Soul Train does.

Yeah because Mentioning two mega successful R&B/pop groups in comparison to Xscape doesn’t mean you were implying success. 5 top 10 hits and 3 platinum albums later, I’d like to say Xscape IS it. Keep hating hater.
Nope. I mentioned them for their massive presence, charisma and most of all PERSONALITY. Of which, in MY opinion, Xscape didn’t have much of. Stop making presumptions. You are never one step ahead so stop thinking you are.

All their albums except the first bangs ALL THE WAY THROUGH not a track skipped on ANY of them..I wish they had released more singles though..Hard To Say Goodbye, Do Like Lovers Do, Work Me Slow, Loves A Funny Thing, Softest Place On Earth, One of those Love Songs, I Will, Your Eyes and The Run Around (all non singles) gets PLENTY of play in my crib. This may be up for debate but IMO Xscape is better vocalist than SWV. Only one person can blow in SWV and it’s definitely NOT Taj (beyond horrible)and Lele (and I love Lele but she is not a great vocalist). Coko, I will never take her vocal ability away from her bc the lady can blow but she’s the only one that can in the SWV group..just my opinion

I’m surprised DC or TLC aren’t picking up these legacy awards, in saying that both groups have multiple grammys.
Because vocal groups/singers are often times overlooked.
DC and TLC are NOT really vocal girl groups like En Vogue, SWV, Xscape.
And the Soul Train awards tend honor R&B vocalists.
